MALAYSIAN SKILLS CERTIFICATION PROGRAMME FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Recognition of Prior Achievement (APA) or formerly known as the Accreditation of Prior Achievement is a method to give recognition to any individual who can demonstrate skills outlined in the National Occupational Skills Standards (NOSS) based on prior experience and achievements.

The Malaysian Skills Certification Programme was first introduced on 13th September 1996 to acknowledge the contribution of skilled workers in the country. It emphasize the concept of life-long learning and this process can help individuals to evaluate and develop the learning that they had acquired through formal and informal means.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

The minimum requirements for candidates to join the Malaysian Skills Certification Programme are:

  1. Age of between 16 to 35 years old.
  2. Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  3. Have sufficient sponsors or financial resources throughout the training period.
  4. Have a good level of health and be free of disease infections. Applicant must submit a health report from the country of origin when applying;
  5. Declares no conviction status anywhere an offense against the law in any country; and
  6. Obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Authority responsible for education and training skills in the country of origin or any conditions set by The Malaysian Government as a condition for issuing visas for related countries. (Please refer to the website of the Immigration Department Malaysia (JIM) for a list of countries that require NOC as a condition of entry)

WELDING SECTOR CAREER

WELDER


Estimated Income: RM2,000++


Scope of Work: Repair metal products by heating with welding tools.


LECTURER


Estimated Income: RM2,800++


Scope of Work: Teaching and educating PT3/SPM graduates.


WELDING INSPECTOR


Estimated Income: RM6,500++


Scope of Work: Responsible for inspecting and evaluating the quality of work and the strength of welding work.


UNDERWATER WELDERS


Estimated Income: RM10,000++


Scope of Work: Repairing and welding under the sea.


AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR CAREER

TECHNICIAN


Estimated Income: RM2,000++


Scope of Work: Repairing vehicles.


LECTURER


Estimated Income: RM3,000++


Scope of Work: Teaching and educating PT3/SPM graduates.


WARRANTY AND INSURANCE ADJUSTER


Estimated Income: RM3,000++


Scope of Work: Evaluate and settle insurance claims for insurance companies.


SERVICE ADVISOR


Estimated Income: RM2,500++


Scope of Work: Greet potential customers, coordinate test drives, assist with trade-in values and negotiate vehicle repair prices.
